IEE 2018 booth I designed and supervised

I worked as an architect at Al-Riyad Group from July 2017 to October 2019, designing and supervising four showrooms. The company wanted to update its spaces, so I developed a modular display system that was practical to manufacture, replace and transport. It became the design process used across nine showrooms. I also designed and supervised the company's booth for the Iraq Energy Exhibition in 2018.

The old showrooms had lighting fixtures bolted into fixed display boards, leaving visible fixings that were difficult to hide.

I replaced that approach with two modular pieces. A background frame provided the structure, while a separate front panel was easy to manufacture and inexpensive to replace. This gave the products a cleaner display and made the system practical to reuse across branches. It became the company's showroom design process and was used in nine locations. The Baghdad main branch shows the full version of the system.

The first showroom put the design process alongside the realities of an existing building and a limited budget.

The City Centre branch occupied two floors in a building that needed substantial rehabilitation. The civil works were complicated and extended the delivery timeline. To stay within the client's budget, the built area also had to be reduced by roughly 100 sqm. I worked through those constraints while introducing the new display system. The drawings show the layout and construction details, followed by photographs taken a year after opening.

The Mosul branch had closed in 2014 and was damaged during the events that followed.

I went to restore the showroom using the process and modular system I had developed for the company. The same approach could carry into another location, while the floor and ceiling plans addressed the space itself.

The Iraq Energy Exhibition brought a different constraint, nearly 135 products to display in a 100 sqm booth.

I designed and supervised Al-Riyad's booth for IEE 2018. The plans and elevations show how the products fitted into the space, and the finished photograph was taken a day before the opening. We completed the booth on time.
