Designing around the space, budget and plans a client already had.

Between 2019 and 2021, I worked independently on eight projects for private clients, from houses and small interiors to the presentation of a mall. The work started with what each client needed. Sometimes that meant fitting a family home onto a small plot, sometimes it meant planning for another use later, and sometimes it meant making an existing house work within a budget. These projects show how I turned those constraints into layouts, drawings and visualizations.

The Business House needed to work for two different uses over time.

The client needed specific spaces and dimensions for a business, but wanted the same building to become a house later. I planned both layouts together so the conversion would need as little construction as possible.

The transition happens in phases. Planning that second use from the beginning meant the business layout could meet its own requirements while leaving a practical route to a home. The plans below show both uses and how the building changes between them.

The Tiny House was for a young family of two with a 45 sqm plot. I designed the plan to make full use of that space while leaving room to add another room later if they needed it.

Like the Business House, the layout had to account for the client's needs now and the changes they might make in the future. Here, that meant keeping the possibility of an extra room within a very small plot.

The Practical House had a similar brief for a family of four. They wanted to make full use of their plot, including a garage and a spacious guest room.

I planned the guest room so it could later be divided into a smaller guest room and another bedroom. The extra bedroom was a possibility built into the layout, rather than something the family would have to find space for later.

For the Corner Box, the client wanted a practical family home that used all of the plot without feeling cramped. I worked with a 10 by 10 m layout and developed the facade from a simple box form, using paint, stone and CNC-cut metal plates.

The ground floor section and first floor plan show how the spaces fit together. The elevation shows the material choices that gave the compact building its character.

Not every client was starting with an empty plot. For this project, the client had just bought a house and wanted to redesign its facade and interiors. The narrow plot and the budget shaped the work, so I used simple elements and materials for the elevation.

Inside, I used light finishes and an open plan to help the main space feel larger. I also fitted as much storage as possible into the kitchen. The facade comparison and interior renders show the proposed changes.

Another client had just bought a house and wanted modern, simple bathrooms. The rooms were small, so I worked within their existing size to develop the designs.

The renders show the proposed interiors, while the drawing sheets show the layouts behind them. It was the same kind of work at a smaller scale, starting with the space available and the client's brief.

The medical center client wanted a very light interior with a luxurious appearance. I designed it around white finishes and beige wallpaper, with gold lighting fixtures to bring in the look they asked for.

The waiting area, reception and doctor's room show how that direction carries through the different spaces.

For the mall, my contribution was its presentation. I produced exterior and interior renders, worked on their post-processing, and made a four-minute 3D animation covering both parts of the building. I edited the animation in Adobe Premiere Pro.

This was a different part of the work from designing a house or an interior. The images and animation brought the spaces together in a presentation, from the site and exterior to the lobby and offices.
